My name is Dr. Helen Alvey and I can help with the above concerns and many other issues that may be holding you back.

My Approach to Therapy

When starting therapy, I prioritize developing a strong relationship and create an environment where you can be open and vulnerable. Once you feel comfortable, we will establish goals that will help improve your quality of life.  Depending on your concerns, I use evidence-based treatments such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Gottman Method, and Behavioral Therapy. These treatments are designed specifically to work with problems such as depression, anxiety, relational issues, and parenting difficulties.

Trauma/PTSD Therapy

I specialize in working with individuals who have a history of trauma. I have extensive experience with veterans and non-veterans. Additionally, I am a certified providerin Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) which was developed to help people who suffer from PTSD and other types of trauma. If you have a history of trauma, I can help you process the traumatic event and teach you how to develop a new, more balanced way of thinking.
